CITIBANK

Citibank was founded in 1812 as the City Bank of New York.

Citibank is now the consumer and corporate banking arm of financial services giant Citigroup, the largest company of its kind in the world. It is the third largest bank by holdings behind Bank of America and JP Morgan Chase & Co.

Citigroup, Inc., through its subsidiaries, provides financial services to consumer and corporate customers worldwide.

Its Global Consumer segment provides various banking, lending, insurance, and investment services through a network of local branches; offices; and electronic delivery systems, including automated teller machines, automated lending machines, and Internet.

In addition to the standard banking transactions, Citibank offers insurance, credit card and investment products. Their online banking services division is among the most successful in the field, claiming about 15 million users.

Citibank also provides investment management services, including investment funds management and capital markets solutions, as well as trust, fiduciary, and custody services; credit services, including real estate financing, commitments, and letters of credit; and banking services, including deposit, checking, and savings accounts, as well as cash management and other banking services.

In April of 2006, Citibank struck a deal with 7-Eleven to put its ATMs in over 5,500 convenience stores in the U.S. In the same month, it also announced it would sell all of its Buffalo and Rochester New York branches and accounts to M&T Bank.

It was announced on November 13th, 2006 that Citibank would be the corporate sponsor of the new stadium for the New York Mets. The stadium will open in 2009 and be called Citi Field.
